Use Rice Krispy Treats

Better than the original? 💜 You be the judge. I gave the classic Rice Krispie Treat a Filipino remix with ube halaya and ube condensed milk for that rich, nutty flavor and gorgeous purple color. Soft, chewy, buttery, and seriously addictive. Filipinos have a way of putting our own spin on classic dishes just like our island spin on this classic.

One pan. Layers of creamy béchamel. Soft noodles. Gooey mozzarella. Pure comfort food.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups salted butter

  • 10oz of mini marshmallows (one large bag)

  • 10 oz of puffed rice (one large box)

  • 1 cup of ube flavored condensed milk

  • ½ cup of ube halaya

  • ½ cup white chocolate chips (optional but deelish)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter over medium heat in a very large pot. Once melted, add condensed milk, and the ube halaya. Then add the marshmallows. Stir the mixture until the marshmallows are completely melted.

  2. Remove from heat, then fold in the cereal. Make sure each piece of cereal is coated with the marshmallow mixture.

  3. Transfer mixture to buttered pan. Spread mixture into the pan halfway. Then add a layer of white chocolate chips. Layer the remaining mixture on top.

  4. Refrigerate for at least an hour.

  5. Slice and enjoy.
